*IMPORTANT! MD TOBACCO TAX INCREASE!!**
As we all know, this has been quite a year for the vaping industry! We have been through FDA regulation, threats of a flavor ban, an actual vape mail ban, and now some states are changing the tax situation on e-cigs as well. Maryland is now one of these states, joining its neighboring states of WV and PA. So as of March 14, 2021, all Electronic Smoking Devices (E-Cigs) and the E-liquid that is used in them will have a sales & use tax of 12%. This is a 6% increase above what the taxes already were. We know that this is inconvenient and seems like just another attack on the e-cig industry, however, it is being passed alongside the PACT act, which was created to prevent youth access to any type of vaping liquid or devices. Also, in this bill, disposable e-cigs such as Juul, Vuse, etc will be at a 60% tax rate, while actual tobacco cigarette taxes are being raised $1.75 per pack on on top of the existing $2.00 tax making it a total of $3.75!
